We will be exhibiting on the Welcome City Lab stand, the first Parisian incubator in the tourism sector developed by Paris&Co, which has 9 incubators in the Paris region.

Every year at ITB, a report is published on the current year's global tourism trends. This year, the consulting firm IPK International was responsible for this.
Its ITB World Travel Trends Report 2017/2018 has released some impressive figures on global tourism with the following highlights:
Global tourism growth intensifies
- The global turnover of foreign travel is growing three times faster than the global GDP with for each continent :
- +7.5% for North America
- +5.5% for Europe
- +5% for Asia
- +5% for Latin America
- 901 million international tourist arrivals
A strong year for outbound tourism in Europe
- +5.5% of foreign travel from Europe
- 20% increase in urban tourism
- +12% of arrivals in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean
Steady growth for Asian outbound tourism
- +5% of outbound travel from Asia
- +15% of holidays in the sun and on the beach
North American outbound tourism increases while Latin America increases
- +15% of trips from North America to Europe
- More tour packages for North Americans
- 7% of visits from friends or relatives
- +8% of organised trips
The global tourism industry needs new strategies to manage overtourism
- 25% of tourists felt that their destination was crowded
- 19% of winter sports travellers were affected by overtourism
- Venice has over 22 million visitors a year but only 2.9 million overnight tourists
International tourism is safer than you think
- 41% of tourists say terrorist alerts will impact their travel plans in 2018
- 33% intend to change to a safer destination
- US and UK enter top 10 of 'potentially dangerous' destinations
- 8% of international travellers have suffered a "risk event
Millenials to drive growth in Muslim tourism market
- 60% of the world's 1.8 billion Muslims are under the age of 30
- Halal food and prayer facilities are essential
- Expected revenue from the Muslim tourism market by 2026: $300 billion
- Luxury tourism accounts for 20% of global tourism spending
- By 2022, two thirds of the luxury hotel industry will be experience-based
- New technologies will play a decisive role in tourism, such as chatbots or robots
